How many surfers are there in the world?

There’s no telling how accurate their numbers are, but the IWGA estimates the global population of recreational surfers to be around 20 million people.  There are roughly 2.5 million surfers in the United States alone, the majority being on the Pacific coast.

  • i think that this is a fairly tru statement i am 15 and surf every weekend and it seems as though surfing is being blown up a little to much compared to back in the old days when surfing was just to be with friends and to have fun but it seems know that surfing is for competitions. Thanks for the information message back.:)
